DVD Cover...

For the 'S' i have now managed to finish this. I managed to get the black lines in by using the brush tool as i made it as small as possible but rather than doing all the lines, i just went over the parts that looked blue or that stood out when zoomed out.

I have now started to think about my font that would fit into my genre. I am thinking of 'Most Wasted' from dafont.com as this looks quite effective and is still easy to read. I have used this font for the title of the Artist and title of the album. For the 'S'i created i have used it in the title of the album 'So Far So Good'.

However i have used a different font for the title of the songs called 'King Cool'. This again is effective as it fits it with my genre and is also easy to read without being too big that it takes up a lot of space but without being to small so that it is not clear to read.

Inside of DVD Cover so far...

My objetive for today was to find a way that i could shade in the 'S' and to make the lines a lot clearer.

To start with i found a way to make the lines a lot clearer. I did this by connecting each line and then creating a path with all of the lines, after i copied and pasted it onto the background i had created previsously. Once i had done this i then decided to colour it in. As i had taken a photo of the 'S' it meant that the way the light reflected onto the paper made different parts of it different colours. As i was colouring it in i zoomed in as far as i could to make sure that it was all coloured in fully, so that once zoomed out it looked even. Once i had zoomed out this was when i realised that different shades had been created and it looked quite effective. However some of the black lines had been slightly coloured in blue when i had tried to get as close as possible to the edges. I therefore needed to go over these lines with the 'brush' tool in order for it to stand out effectively. Once i had done this i had again realised that i had missed some litle bits out of the blue which needed to be filled in. I went back over these but when i zoomed out i realised that it had become a lighter shade of blue, almost a white where over the different parts of the 'S' were different shade of blue. I tried to correct this by going back over my history and delteing whati had done but this didn't seem to make a difference. So i tried to colour it in by clicking on the 'eyedropper' tool to get the same blue back again but this didn't work either. I have not yet solved this problem as i unfortuantely ran out of time but this will be my next objective.

Inside of DVD Cover so far...

For my DVD cover as i wanted an 'S' on the inside i needed to think of a way i could have the same 'S', but so that i could either create it on Phototshop or so that i could take a picture. I decided that i would take a picture and thencut it from the background, in order for it to be of equal size and so that i could use for other wording on my cover.

Once i had cut it out from the background, i then needed to colour it in. My original idea was to have a shade that grew darker as it got closer to the end of the 'S'. However to start with i just coloured it in in one colour as i still needed to outline the 'S' so that it would stand against the background i had chosen. So i used the 'line' tool in order to outline the 'S' in black. Once i had finsihed doing this it looked quite good as the black was quite dark and had a glossy look to it. When it cae to filling it with colour by using the 'Paint bucket' tool it coloured in all of the 'S' but with no shading as obviously it only had one shade of colour.

My next objective will be to find a way to shade the colourand to possibly find a way to get the outline to look a lot neater.

Magazine Advert

This is my magazine advert, advetising 'Schoolboy's' album 'So Far So Good'. Again i used my idea that i used for the inside cover as it meant that i still kept to the idea used for the front cover so that i could include other information about the album such as the ratings that magazines had given the album, wher it canbe downloaded from etc. I used the idea of the 'S' again as i thought that it was big and would stand out again so that the targeted audience would recognise it as 'SchoolBoy'.

Inside of DVD Cover

As the inside of my DVD cover is going to be clear i have decided to put an inside cover into it. To start with i wasn't sure what icould put on the inside cover so i looked at DVD covers such as 'Momento' to help, however as this is a DVD Film it meant that they had put the scene chapters in the inside which still kept me thinking of what i could put on the left hand side. In the end i decided to keep my idea which was on the front but change it slightly so that rather than having the whole person you would see half of the front and half of the back, which can be seen from the photo. By using this idea i thought it was effective as it is always reminding the target audience of the artist. By putting the titles of the song between the two pictures of the artist breaks up the inside as there is something differnet to look at. On the right hand as seen from the photo the is a big S. I decided on this again it reminded the tsrget audience of the artist but also fitted in with the title of the album 'So Far So Good'. Even though it is quite simple , i think it is effective as there is not a lot to look at it and is is also not confusing.

DVD Front & back Cover

This is the front and back cover for my DVD. I have chosen to do it this way as it gets my genre across of Hip Hop and it reaches my target audience of 15+ teenagers. I have decided to use a purple background as it enhances the colour of the blue writing and helps the black to stand out around the writing of the title and the artist as well. I also included the colours by giving the person a blue tie to show a school uniform or smart looking. Also having the person standing with their hand on their hip shows attitude which also fits in with my chosen genre and gives them status. As i have the artist on the back of the cover as well it is again fitting in with my chosen genre of Hip Hop and again also showing attiude towards the targeted audience. I have kept to my colour scheme of tow different shades of blue and purple which not only helpes the writing to stand out but also the artist and it draws attention to the back of them.

DVD Cover

For the past couple of lessons we have been looking at how we could design our DVD cover and magazine article for our music video. We have looked at how other artist have designed their's and what the connotations are and how it fits in with their genre and target audience. We looked at Jay-Z's cover for his new album 'The Blueprint 3' which has 3 red lines over a instruments that are completely white. This could show purity. He keeps to the theme by using the 3 red stripes throughout his cover and magazaine advert.
By looking at other artists covers and adverts it has helped me to create mine effetively as i feel that i have reached my targeted audience and my genre is still seen through this.

Editing...

Before we starting again we thoroughly watched what we had already done just to make usre that everything was in the right place and worked well before we carried on. OPnce we had started to edit again all that we left was to add in the last couple of bits of Mitchell adn Lewis singing and the last bit of the storyline where the boy adn girl finally meet. We didn;t realise just how much we had included of Lewis and Mitchell, but rather than cutting it we used a lot more fast paced and quick cuts betweeen clips just to see how this would work. It turned out that we did need to cut some of the singing and to crop things together to make it fit, but it does look effective and now looks a lot more like a music video rather than our first attempt. Editing is now finished.
